Fiskateer Sensational State Swap Part 2

If you haven't become a Fiskateer, what are you waiting for!!  Ok so you are saying what is a Fiskateer?  Well it could have to do with my maiden name, Fisk, but it doesn't.  A Fiskateer is someone who loves and uses Fiskar products.  To become a Fiskateer you need to go contact one of the Lead Fiskateers.  They will ask you some super secret questions and then they will consider your membership to become a Fiskateer ambassador.

Now as a Fiskateer, you can visit a wonderful online community.  Chat, ask others about Fiskar products plus there are swaps.  Now you know I love ATC swaps!!  So this is one my go to communities to take part  in ATC Swaps.

Now back in October we did Sensational State ATC Swap in October.  Now its time for Part 2.  I did Virginia in Part 1 and since Pennslyvania was taken I did Alabama.  I did this one a little differnt that usual.  It is actually a mini card.  It opens and there is more information inside.

Now it isn't to late to join the swap.  There are still 2 unclaimed states.  So if you aren't a Fiskateer, hop to do it and join the swap!!

Hugs, love and prayers

Crafter's Digital Art Center Progressive Challenge 9-1

Round 9
1st Project

We're in Round 9 of Crafter's Digital Art Center Progressive Challenge.  This round has been extended due to Christmas.  This round will end January 14, 2012.

Let me take a moment to explain CDAC's PC.  Way back at round 1 we were given a set of FREE images.  Make a project from any of those images, use Linkz to add your projects to the challenge page, and when it is time for round 2 a new set of images were sent to you.  And so on and so on.  Now if you haven't done the round before to get free images, no fear.  You can purchase the current set of images for $1!!

This round is all about Christmas.  The theme is "make your own".  There is a blank Snow Globe and I hope to make something with it.  For now I am using the Santa's Stuck, which is an image from Crafty Ann. I added one of the sentiments to the bottom of the globe.  I added clear rhinestones to the spots of falling snow.  Not sure I like it.  I used Pearl Glimmer Mist to the globe to make it look like it might be a globe. I had thought to put Glossy Accents to it, but with the rhinestones I didn't think it would look good.  Plus I think I would have used all my Glossy Accents on it.

Here is my card...

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.
Hugs, love and prayers
Chris

Crafter's Digital Art Center Progressive Challenge 9-2

Round 9
Project 2
This is all about my second project using a CDAC Progressive Challenge Round 9 image.  This image is by Patti Gomez, who draws such wonderful images and makes some amazing projects.

Here is my card...

It's in the mail, as I mailed all my Christmas cards this morning...check that off my list.

Crafter's Digital Art Center Progressive Challenge 9-3

I was so busy yesterday.  Here is the thrid project I have done for CDAC's Progressive Challenge Round 9.

This image is from Just Some Lines...Isn't that a cute name.  LOL.  I had no idea what to do for my third project for the challenge...it was all Christmas images and I did 2 and had them completed. So I put it aside and went to work on an ATC that I needed to get done.  ATC World (A Yahoo Group) does a monthly Winner Take All (WTA) drawing.  Two names are drawn and everyone sends that person an ATC to fit any of the themes the person has listed.  One of the ladies' chosen theme was Beatle Songs.  So I was looking through a list of songs by the Beatles and found one called Goodnight.  AH HA!!  I knew this image would fit perfectly that song!!

Here is my ATC ...

I did this ATC a bit different from the other ones I have done, but I have received some like this.  It is actually a small 2.5" x 3.5" card.  When opened you will find the year Goodnight was released, on which album, the songwriter, and the lead vocalist.

Thanks for stopping by...
Hugs, love and prayers

Grandbabies first picture

We have the first picture of our grandbaby, due in June.  Can't tell who's side of the family the baby looks like yet...maybe the next picture.  :)

A friend of mine said something that is so true.  Grandbabies are God's reward for being a good parent.

Stay tuned for the next baby picture the end of January.

CDAC Progressive Challenge Round 8-1

I can't believe we are doing round 8!!  In case you are wondering what CDAC PC is, let me tell you.  With a progressice challenge, you are given a free image (or set of images as with CDAC).  Make a project with that image(s).  Link it to the Challenge Group by the deadline.  You will then be sent an invite to pick up the new images. If you didn't get in on the last round and would like to take part...no fear!!  For $1 you can get the images and get into the challenge.

Now this time I have done 3 cards.  I don't know what is going on with my pictures.  I am using the same light box, same settings on my camera, and the box is in the same place.  BUT my pictures are coming out with a brown tint to it.

Here is one of my cards.

Hope to see your projects!

Updates and Vacation News

Can you believe I haven't been in the craft room in 10 days!?!  Larry has been on vacation and when he is home, I don't craft.  I am going through withdrawals.  Larry goes back to work in the morning and then has Sunday off, which is his normal day off.

So what have we been doing on vacation?  We had a ball in Pigeon Forge.  We arrived in town Friday afternoon, stopped and picked up our tickets and hotel vouchers.  Come to find out we needed to reserve our tickets for The Trolley Tour of Lights and it only runs Monday-Friday evenings, so we missed out on that.  So we went out to dinner at Tony Roma's and had the best ribs and chicken ever!!  Then we hung out in the hot tub in our room!!

Saturday was a great day.  We went to Parrot Mountain in the morning.  Of course I managed to leave the camera home :(  I did buy a throw away camera but only took a few pictures.  The name of the place says it all...Parrots and Mountain.  There were parrots of all sizes and shapes.  Every Macaw you can think of, conures, and Lories.  And by mountain it is at the top of a mountain but you have to walk uphill all the way through the place and downhill on the way back.  To say the least my back had the worse of me.

Saturday afternoon we went to the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner theater.  The meal was out of this world...fried chicken, soup, corn beard, beans, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and dessert.  The show was just as good.  We had our picture taken there and I will scan it and share!!

Saturday night we went to the Christmas Specular at the Smokey Mountain Opry.  Fun!  Great singing, dancing, skits and more.  Our plan had been to go next door to Tony Romas for dessert but they closed at 10.  Come to find out...almost all restaurants close at 10.  So we wandered over to Winterfest which was a disappointment.  Rides (all of 5), crofters (all of 6), a skating rink, and a smore's pit.  Wow.  Good thing it was free to get into!  Went back to the hotel and enjoyed our hot tub again.

Sunday we went to Gatlinburg to the 8 Mile Loop which has Arts and Crafts shops.  Well on Sundays...they are all closed!!  So we headed back to Pigeon Forge and got a t-shirt for Katie as she pet sat for us.  And headed home.  Took us 2 and 1/2 hours to go 7 miles.  Then once we were part way home, it took us another 10 minutes to go 5 miles.  Never again will we go on a holiday weekend.  Will we go back again...OH YEA.  I am shooting for September...during the week.

Before we left I had my follow up with my doc.  I had a fasting blood sugar over of 140 a month ago and hemoglobin A1C of 6.3...high normal is 6.2.  Doc said one more high fasting BS and I would be diabetic.  And of course it was.  139.  So I am now diabetic.  GRRR.  So I am checking my blood sugar 2-4 times a day and am suppose to be watching my diet and getting exercise.  Now that vacation is over, I am getting on the band wagon.  I have been taking my BS and know what foods do what.  Starting in the morning, my diet changes and I start walking.  I have been pushing myself with the walking in stores.  I usually use the electric carts cause of my back.  This past week I haven't used one, but have taken more pain pills than usual.  Guess there as to be a trade off.

So what have we done the rest of vacation.  Clean house.  And take it easy!!  Before we left for Pigeon Forge (yes on Black Friday) we purchased a GPS unit...wow that sure helped on the trip and I got a Kindle, which is AWESOME!!  And I have figured out how to download library books on it!!

Heading off now...and back to craft world in the morning.

CDAC Progressive Challenge Round 7 Post 1

A whole new round of Progressive Challenges has now been posted at CDAC.

A progressive challenge is real fun and a great way to get FREE images. With CDAC's Progressive Challenge you are given a set of images. Make a project with any one of those images, link it to the CDAC PC Page before the deadline and they will send you an invite to a group where you can pick up a new set of images at. Again make a project by the deadline with any of the new images and they send you more FREE. Plus you are put in a drawing for some cool prizes. Now if you didn't get in the last round and want in on the new one, all you have to do is buy the images for a small fee. How cool is that!! Plus it is super cool to see what everyone else does with the same image.

This image is by Heart Song Designs.  I made a bookmark using this cute apple.  It's a bad photo cause the light went out in my light box.  There is black glitter on the seeds of the apple.  This has also gone postal to my daughter in Alabama.  She is a college student and I love her having a little piece of me with her when she is studying.

Hugs. Love. and Prayers

Now my first project is an image by Sew Many Cards and is a cute bear and a honey pot.  I used Glossy Accents on the honey jar to make it look like it is glass.  And this card has gone postal to my daughter in Alabama. Sorry for the bad picture, my light went out in my light box.

Hope to see your project.

Chris + Laptop = MESS

I got my Toshiba back 2 weeks ago.  I took and cleaned off the Dell of all the stuff I use, and got it set up for Larry and I would use the Toshiba...it can do more than the Dell.  He knows nothing of computers...he has turning it on down but not much after that.  Got it all down and he has had the Dell for about a week.  Last night I went upstairs and when I come down Larry has the Toshiba and said the screen is broke.  How? Why?  Got no clue.  Larry refuses to tell me what happened.  In the past 2 years I have spilled milk on one, broke the screen on the Dell once and the Toshiba TWICE.  Larry gave the Dell back to me and when we get back from our our trip he will have a new screen put on it AGAIN and he will be using it.

CDAC Progressive Challenge

This is the last round of the CDAC Progressive Challenge.  I am hoping they do this again.  It has been fun.

If you don't know what a progressive challenge is, let me take a moment to explain.  In the first round we were given a free set of images.  If you made a project with an image and linked to the challenge page before the dead line, you were sent another set of images for FREE!!  Now if you didn't get in on the previous round...no sweat.  For $1 you can purchase the current set of images.  Each set has 4-6 images...for $1.  Can't beat that price.  So when you get the new set you again have to link a project to the challenge page and again they would sent you the next set.  And there are prizes at the end of the challenge.  :)

Now here is my project.

Hope all is well with everyone.
Hugs, love and prayers

Exciting News!!!

We're gonna be GrandParents!!

My son and daughter-in-law, TJ and Lisa, are expecting!!  4 years ago TJ told me they have a plan.  Wedding, a house of their own, and then children.  They were married in 2009 and moved into their new home last week.  TJ said they weren't going to have children until they had been in the house a while.  Well I guess 7 months is a while.  LOL.  They are expecting June 20, 2012!  Granny will be tearing up the roads between Virginia and Philly!!  I am the second family member to know!!  YAY!!  TJ is painting all the rooms in the house.  I told him to get the guest room ready.  He said baby room comes before the guest room.  Hmmm maybe I can go help with the babies room!!  Maybe I will start admitting the big -0 birthday in May.  :)

Craft Room

Cleaning my Craft Room

It seems I have acquired more than I had storage space for.  But I have found a solution.  Gotta love FreeCycle.  A lady gift me 5 3 drawer storage containers.  I happened to be in WalMart yesterday and they are about $9 each.  So I am shuffling things here and there.  Not everything will be within my reach, but I have more stuff now and it all can't be.  I will take pictures later.  If I ever find the end of it all.  They say it has to get worse before it gets better.  I guess I am at that worse part right now.  LOL

Digi Darla's Holiday Harvest Challenge

It's that time of the year.  Today is Halloween and you know what that means.  Thanksgiving in a bit more then 3 weeks.  Then it is Christmas time.  So the new challenge is fitting of the season.  Holiday Harvest...and Thanksgiving time.  Time for family, friends, feats, gratitude and fun.

Here is how Digi Darla's challenge works.  You can use any image you wish as long as it fits the theme.  But if you use a Digi Darla image, you get 2 entries  in the drawing for prizes.

I just love this image.  I paired it up with another Digi Darla image.  I think it makes the prettiest Thanksgiving card.  What?  You said you don't do Thanksgiving cards.  Why not?  I am sure you  have a family member or friend who won't be sitting down at your Thanksgiving dinner.  Let that person know you are glad to have them as a friend.

Ok..here is my card.

Hope to see your project.

CDAC Progressive Challenge 5-2

This is my second entry for Round 5 of CDAC's Progressive Challenge.  CDAC's Progressive Challenge is almost over.  But there is still time to get in.  The way a progressive challenge works goes like this... CDAC sent out a group of free digis.  If you made a project using any one of the free images before the deadline and link it the PC page, CDAC sent you new images.  Make a project using any of the new images, and they would send you more new images.  If you didn't get in the last round of the challenge, have no fear.  You can purchase the images for a really low cost...I think it's $1.

So any-hoo Here is my second card.  This is a super cute image.

Hope you are having a GREAT day.
Hugs, love and prayers.

Delightful Inspiration's Progressive Challenge and Saturday Challenge

It's time for more Delightful Inspirations!!  In case you don't know what a progressive challenge is...let me explain.  Faith from DI has a free image the first Friday of the month.  You make a project with that image, and link it to the DI blog by the deadline, and the next Friday Faith will send you a free image.  Make a project with that image and link... you get the picture.

Delightful Inspirations also has a Saturday challenge put on by the lovely ladies on DI's Design Team.  Some times the free progressive challenge image of the week will work and sometimes it won't.  Sometimes you can do what I did this week.  I combined 2 images and made the PC image work with the Saturday challenge.

So here is my card which works for both challenges.  Lovely Tree is the PC image and the Saturdya challenge is Cute Critters

Hope all is well with you.

Our Anniversary!!!

Our 10th anniversary is November 24th, 2011.  We never took a honeymoon...kids and work just prevented it.  Well I am so excited.  With the help of Beth from www.seeingpigeonforge.com we have a package for Pigeon Forge, TN!!!!  Hotel with fireplace for 3 nights, The Christmas Opry Spectacluar, admittance into ChristmasFest, Dollywood, and the Aquarium and seening Dixie Stampede. The first trip Larry and I have taken without it involving the kids.  So this is the honeymoon we never had.  I can't wait.  For the first time in 12 years, I am looking forward to the holidays!!

Digi Darla's Fall Fun Challenge

Fall Fun Challenge

It's Fall here in the United States and I love this time of the year.  The beautiful Fall colors, the cooler temperatures, the children are back in school, and all of the lovely Fall Festivals.  What better time to have a Fall Fun challenge.  Digi Darla is having just that...a Fall Fun Challenge.  And she has some great (free) images for this challenge.

Now here is how things work for a Digi Darla challenge.  You can use any image you like, but if you use a Digi Darla's image, you get 2 entries in the prize drawing.  And why wouldn't you use a Digi Darla image..when they are free.

Here is my card for this challenge...

I hope to see your project at Digi Darla's

NettieG's Anything but Rectangle Challenge

But don't shape challenges really challenge you??  I know they do me.

First let's get the details for this challenge.  You can enter Anything but a Rectangle card you wish.  BUT if you use a NettieG image, you get 2 entries in the drawing for a free image.

Ok now about my card...I was scouring the internet looking for shape cards when I happened upon a site that said if you have a Cricut, it's easy to do a shape card.  Really??  It seems that a number of Cricut's cartridges have shape cards on them.  Well I own all of 6 carts.  But on Sentiments there is indeed a shape card.  So I decided why not.  So that is where my card started out.  Then I decided I needed to work on some Christmas cards, so I wasn't down to the wire and trying to get cards done.  So I used NettieG's Warm Welcome image.  I used what I thought would look like wallpaper as a background.  I then completely cut out the image.  Added some Glossy Accents to the lantern to make it look more real and then added letter to make it look like a swag...although I am not sure it really does.  But in the end I like it.

Hope to see your project in this Anything but Rectangle Challenge.

Hugs, love and prayers

CDAC Progressive Challenge #4

3rd Project

This is my 3rd project for this round.  One could do all of the images...3 times.  I wish I had time for that.  :)

This image is a Designed to Delight image.  Faith has the cutest images.  I am also entering this in Designed to Delight's Saturday Challenge which is Falling Leaves.

Hope you enjoy.

Delightful Inspirations Hope Butterfly

Hope Butterfly
I had missed a deadline on Delightful Inspirations and waited till the first Friday of October to get back in it.  Boy, have I missed it.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  And Faith has the cutest image, Hope Butterfly.  Such a lovely image on a card to remind a friend she needs to get her mammogram or showing support for someone dealing with breast cancer.
My grandma died in 1970 of breast cancer.  She had 6 children, my dad and his siblings.  Uncle Dick, Uncle George, and Aunt Betty have died of lung cancer.  Uncle Jim died from cancer of unknown origin.  My dad has had prostrate cancer and with surgery is doing fine.  Only my Aunt Sally has been cancer free.  So cancer awareness is a priority for me.

So...how does a progressive challenge work?  It's easy.  The first Friday of the month, Faith gives away a lovely image (Hurry there is still time to get the free image).  Make a project with that images and link it to the Delightful Inspirations blog by Thursday 11:59 PM Eastern time, and you will be emailed a new image.  And that is what happens every week.

Here is my card....

Hope to see your project.

Digi Darla's Brown and Blue Challenge

This week's challenge is a color challenge. Brown and Blue.  I think brown and blue look so good together.  Even the paper company thought so...look at the great brown and blue paper I used.

Now you can use any image you wish, BUT if you use a Digi Darla image, you get 2 entries in the drawing for free images.

I just loved this image.  Here is my card...

Hope to see your card at the challenge.

CDAC Progressive Challenge

Today is the last day...so for me I'm late...for entries for Round #3 In CDAC's Progressive Challenge.   The way this works is...you create a project from the free images, link to the challenge page, and they will send you new images.  Now if you didn't get in on this from the start, don't fear.  For $1 you can purchase the images (there has been at least 3 images per round...so it's a great deal), create a project, link it to the challenge page and you will get the next round of images sent to you.  How fun is that!!!

My image this round is from Just Inked, who's artist has a group at CDAC.  I love this sunflower and butterfly.  Now I have put this card to use already.  It is going to a friend of mine who is sick.  Here is my card...

Hope to see your projects.

HappiLeigh Scrappin "T" Time Challenge

HappiLeigh Scrappin
"T" Time Challenge

This week is Starla's turn to host the challenge.  And it is all about "T" Time.  This challenge is about anything that starts with the letter "T".  Leigh has lots of images that start with the letter "T".  There are quite a few Tatter images, teapots, teacups, Turtles and Toads just to name a few.

As always if you buy 3 of HappiLeigh's images you get 1 free.  Buy 6 and get 2 free, etc.
And with any purchase you receive Slippy free.  He would look good on all your summer scrapbook pages.

Let me tell you about the challenge in's and out's.  You can use any image you wish, BUT if you use a HappiLeigh Scrappin image, you get 2 advantages.  First all projects using a HappiLeigh Scrappin images gets put in a separate drawing for prizes.  Secondly, all projects using a HappiLeigh Scrappin image, get 2 entries into the weekly drawing.  So it pays to use a HappiLeigh image.

Here is my project for this week.  I used the Turtle, who comes with 2 sentiments.  I chose the birthday sentiment.

It saddens me to say, this will be the last HappiLeigh Scrappin Challenge.  Leigh is now working and doesn't have the time to draw any more.  I will miss the challenges and Leigh's images.  Leigh, love ya.  Once a HappiSister, Always a HappiSister.

I hope everyone has a great week.  Hope to see your projects!!

Hugs, love and prayers
Chris

NettieG's Anything Goes with a twist Challenge

Thanks for the entries last week.  Jen will be announcing the winner.  This week's challenge is AnyThing Goes...with a twist.  So what's the twist?  You can use any image you wish, BUT (here's the twist) if you use a NettieG image you will get 3 entries into the prize drawing.  That is one more than usual.

Here is my project.

I used DeeDee in her bathing suit.  This card is going to a friend of mine because she is mourning the loss of summer.

Hope to see your project.

Hugs, love and prayers.

Delightful Inspirations Weekly and Saturday Challenge

Progressive and Saturday Challenges

This week's Progressive Challenge image is 'Fall Harvest".  The calendar may say September but the temperature this weekend is going to feel more like October with highs in the 50-60's.  The prefect time to be working on fall projects.

Delightful Inspirations Progressive Challenge is pretty neat.  The first Friday of the month, Faith has a free image.  Use that image in a project by Thursday midnight the following week, link it to Delightful Inspirations challenge page and Faith will send you another free image.  Now if you missed the free image of the month, you can always purchase the current image and get into the fun.

Here is my card using the Fall Harvest image....

Delightful Inspirations Design Team has a Saturday challenge.  It may or may not fit the Progressive Challenge image of the week...more likely it will not.  But a past freebie always seems to fit it.  This week was back to school.

Here is my Back to School card....

HappiLeigh Scrappin
A lot of Leaves Challenge

This week Sue is our hostess.  The kids are back to school and here in the United States it's almost Fall.  With Fall comes the turning of the colors, and then the need to rake.  LOL  Thank goodness I live in an apartment.  Any Woo, Sue's challenge this week is A lot of Leaves.

Ok first the details of the challenge.  You can use any image you wish.  BUT if you use a HappiLeigh image, you get 2 entries in the drawing.  PLUS everyone using a HappiLeigh image is put in a special drawing!

Here is my card.  I found a huge bunch of leaf embellishments in my stash.  So here it is....

I hope to see your Leafy creations.

CDAC Progressive Challenge 2-1

CDAC Progressive Challenge 2

Its round 2 of Crafter's Digital Art Center's (CDAC) Progressive Challenge.  Here is how this works.  Images were given out free in round 1, to those who promised to make a project with them.  At the end of the first round, if you had made a made a project and linked it to the PC site, you were sent another batch of images.  Now if you didn't get the free images in round 1, or you received the images but didn't get a project linked up, no sweat.  You can get the images for...get this...$1.

Here is my first project.  It's a book marker.  I read a lot and am always looking for a book marker.

This always works for

Delightful Inspirations Weekly and Saturday Challenge

Weekly and Saturday Challenges

It's fall time again and I love working on fall cards.  My shortest pencils are always the browns, yellows, and oranges...good ol' fall colors.  This week's free progressive challenge image is 'Falloween'.  Such a cute image.

Now here is the deal with Delightful Inspiration's Challenges....

The first Friday of the month (this past Friday being it), Faith gives away an image.  Use it in a project, link it to Delightful Inspirations Blog by Thursday night and Faith will send you a new image.  Then repeat for yet another free image!!  If you miss the first free one or don't make a project in time, you can always get it, by purchasing the image.

On Saturdays, the Delightful Inspiration's design team hold a challenge.  Always something different.  Some times the free progressive challenge image will work, other times it doesn't.

Here are this week's cards....

Progressive Challenge image..Falloween.

The Saturday Challenge is Wedding or Anniversary...prefect reason to get an anniversary card for my son and daughter-in-law who will be married 2 years the 22nd of this month.
