Digi Darla's Think Spring Challenge

Think Spring Challenge

Time for a new Digi Darla challenge.  This time of the year is prefect for a Think Spring challenge.  We have had such a mild winter...and then on February 19, we got hit with a snow storm.  The day before it was 60 degrees and I would have sworn Spring was here.  They thought we could get 8".  Luckily it was only 4" and by mid-day Monday the temp was up to 45, so it didn't last long.

The details on the challenge.
  • You MUST use a Digi Darla image.  Don't have a Digi Darla image check out the challenge blog and look for the freebies on the side bar.
  • Link your creation to the challenge blog using the 'linkz' button at the bottom of the challenge by March 10, 2012.
We have a sponsor for this challenge. Robyn from...

Here is some inspriation from me to you.
This is a sketch from MoJo Monday.  When Mo and Jo have gone on vacation, I find sketches bring Mo and Jo home.  I kept it on the simple side.
Hope to see your project on Digi Darla's Challenge Blog

    CDACs Progressive Challenge

    (CDAC)
    Progressive Challenge
    Round 12

I can't believe we are in Round 12 of CDAC's Progressive Challenge.  In case you don't know what a progressive challenge is, let me explain how this one works.  You make a project from the current set of images and link it to the challenge page by the challenge deadline, and you will receive the next set of images FREE!!  Don't have the current set of images?  You can purchase them for $1.  Can't find a better deal than that.

Here is what I did with one of the images...

    Hope to see your project.

    CDAC Stick Pin Swap

Now that the CDAC Stick Pin swap has been swapped out, I can now show you the pins I made.  There were 2 groups.  Love and Spring.  Here are the ones, I made.  Those in the red holder are Love and those in the group are Spring.  I am working hard at using these in cards.  They are so fun to use and really class up card.

I did a post earlier showing how to make the stick pin holder.
    Enjoy

Stick Pin Holders Match book Style

I have taken part in a couple of stick pin swaps.  They are great fun to use and ya'll know I love a swap.  I have started putting a few in my cards.  Gotta love them.

I have been asked how do you send them to others.  Well like anything I scoured the internet looking for videos.  After watching a ton of videos, I took a little of this and a little of that and did my own thing.

Here are a couple of the finished stick pin holders.

I did 2 different sizes, depending on which size of the stick pin.  So here is what I did with the short pins...

    Here is what I used
A strip of paper 2" wide and 7 1/2" long.
    Scor-Pal
    2 Facial sponges
    ATG glue
    embellishments

    I scored the paper at 2", 2 1/2", 5 1/2" and again at 6".

    Fold on the score lines.

Take a the facial sponge and cut them in 1/2...cutting it on the short sides.

Glue the facial sponge into the short pocket in the folded cardstock.

    Embellish as desired.

    For the longer stick pins, I used the same process but my cardstock was 9 1/2" x 2" and I scored at 1 1/2", 2", 6" and 6 1/2".

    Digi Darla Design Team Challenge

Due to some things going on personally in my life, I had to take a leave of absent.
    But I'm Back on...

    Design Team

    The new challenge is
    Anything but Snow

Normally this time of the year I would say...I truly wish for anything but snow.  BUT we have had record breaking high temps.  This is the mildest of winters I have even seen.  Having grown up in Northern New York and then moving to Michigan, I have enough snow.  Around my house it is one of them four letter dirty words.  It is nice to be so warm this time of the year.  BUT I am waiting for the other shoe to drop...can it stay this nice the rest of the winter??

For this card, I used Digi Darla's Timmy the Turtle. I put my new corner round punch to work and used a scalloped circle 'Nestie' cut on my Cricut with the image and sentiment.  The flower is several layers of fabric petals.  I cut some leaves the Cricut as well.  Then added a couple of stick pins.  Since I put the buttons in the corner with the Butterfly button (from Pizzazz Aplenty) I used a button as at the center of the flower.

I thought this image screamed 'under the weather'.  I find when I need a Get Well or Sympathy card, I don't have one I can grab.  I might go back and add some Glossy Effects to the rain drops and water puddles.  The challenge runs from today, Feburary 13, 2012 till February 26, 2012.

This week's Digi Darla newsletter will feature a new artist, Dearie Dolls.  She has a couple of images that fit the "Anything but Snow" challange theme.  Here is what I did with one of those images.

Such a cute image, isn't it?  Certainly am daydreaming about spring weather here.  I went with shades of brown in the paper and then popped some color into the image.  The brown colors kinda remind me of this time of the year.  The trees aren't budding and coming to life yet.  We have no snow.  And boy did it get cold.  LOL.

Hope to see your project.  :)

ATC World Winner Takes All February

    Winner Takes All
    Febraury 2012

ATC World, a Yahoo Group, does a Winner Take All Swap.  How does that work?  Around the middle of the month, sign ups are done for the next round.  When signing up, you fill the database in with your demos and what you would like in an ATC..flowers, spring, etc.   Then the beginning of the month, 2 winners are chosen.  Everyone who had signed up now sends each winner an ATC fitting their theme.  This month one theme worked for both winners.  Flowers and Spring.  So how about spring flowers.  So here is what I made for each winner.

I used my Cricut on this one.  The daffodil, dogwood and ladybug were done on the Cricut.  The stick pins is all parts from Pizzazz Aplenty.  The buttons and plastic flowers are from my stash.  Then I sprayed a light layer of Glimmer Mist over both cards.

I don't think either winner frequents my blog so I feel safe posting them before they receiving them.  These will go postal Monday.

    Hugs, love and prayers.

Crafter's Digital Art Center Progressive Challenge

    Round 11

This round of CDAC's Progressive Challenge has some wonderful images.  This image is by Lauretta's Digital Stamps

Now here's a quick overview of CDAC's Progressive Challenge.  When you enter an project using a current round's image in the challenge, you will be sent a set of new images.  Now if you don't have the current images, no fear, you can purchase the set for $1.  When the current round is over, which this round is Feb 13, 2012, and you have entered a project, you will be emailed an invite to a group so you can pick up the next rounds images.  Now isn't that fun!!!

As soon as I saw the image, I knew it needed texture. I applied Glossy Accents to the glass and put Glitter Snow on the whipped cream.  Now to me the Glitter Snow doesn't have enough glitter, so I painted Stickles Diamonds on it.  Yeap I said painted.  There are times when I think a line or drop of Stickles is to much so, I squirt some Stickles onto a paper and then use a paint brush and paint them.  I love the results.  Much easier than taking glue and glitter to a project.  Not to mention cleaner.  The sentiments are stickers from my stash.  I believe I won them as blog candy last year at this time.  :)

    Digi Darla Very Valentine

Digi Darla has a brand new challenge blog and this is the second challenge on that blog.  Very Valentine.  The image in my card is a Freebie.  She is also giving away a bonus freebie.  There are several steps needed to get that freebie...badge our your sidebar, enter this challenge, like Darla on Facebook or Twitter and then going back to the challenge blog and comment that you have completed all the steps.  The freebie is adorable.

Here is my card for this challenge...
I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch as inspiration.  The ribbon is from Pizzazz Aplenty, the sentiment is from Created with TLC and the glitter heart is American Craft Glitter paper.

    CDAC Progressive Challenge Round 11

Time for another round of CDAC's Progressive Challenge.  It's Round 11.  This round's theme is "Love Will Find a Way".  This round the images are great.  I completed this card and have another almost finished...so be sure to check back tomorrow for that one.   I love this Teddy Bear.

I don't understand why my pictures are brown.  I have to mess with the light box.

    Phindy's Friday Challenge

    Child's Birthday

Well I did the challenge last week, but I was unable to link my blog to the challenge blog.  Oh well...lets see how things go this week.

This week's Phindy's Friday Challenge is a "A Child's Birthday Card".  Wow almost any of Phindy's images could work for a child's birthday.

I made an A2 card.  Seems like I am making a number of them lately.  Nice way to use up scraps of paper.  I used Phindy's Baseball Boy...it was the very first digi stamp I purcahsed. Everything is out of my stash.  I had done the Happy Birthday a couple of weeks ago.  It is cut on my Cricut, sprayed with Glimmer Mist and the I is dotted with a rhinestone.  I had a bunch of baseball items in my stash from working on some scrapbook pages for Katie and her trip to Boston to see the Red Sox.

For some reason the pictures I have been taking have a brown tint to them.  I have to mess and aorund and see why.
    Hugs, love and prayers
